About the Mug:
It’s not easy being an NKH Mama. With all the extra hats needed (carer, advocate, fundraiser, researcher, PA, nurse, therapist, chauffeur, dietician, chef, researcher and more) becoming a special needs mama requires a certain amount of strength.
We see that. We see you. We know it’s tough. We can’t do much to lift your load (we wish we could) so instead here’s a mug. We know that you’re the best kind of superwoman.
Nonketotic Hyperglycinemia (NKH) is a metabolic disorder in children which prevents their little bodies from processing glycine. In a typically severe case, it causes seizures, severe intellectual and physical developmental delay, disability and is terminal. As you’re on the foundationnkh.org website, feel free to take a look around. Plenty to learn about NKH.
